Welcome to www.92HothamStreet.org. This web-site has been set up to protect the rights of the neighbours of 92 Hotham Street, Balaclava, both now & into the future.
As you may know, a planning permit application has been submitted for a totally unsuitable 4-storey(!) building in tiny, dead-end, A'Beckett Street, which will be used 24/7 for all types of activities.
In fact, the proposed building would have a 99 year lease from the Yeshivah Centre. You can expect a very large increase in noise & parking problems in the area (regardless of the promises of the applicants). The public meeting of the neighbours which was held on Sunday 25/5/2008 was not too well attended; we must do better with future actions. Those who attended have undertaken to speak to their neighbours. We must all get our objections in on time, & attend the Council meeting when it is called.
This web-site will be updated on a regular basis, so please check it. In order to get on our mailing list, so you can be informed of developments, publish something on this web-site, volunteer ideas or help, or get further information please contact us either by email at 92hothamstreet@gmail.com or ring Chris Scott 0423 392 741. We are especially interested in hearing residents' problems about noise, illegal parking etc. No names, addresses or anything identifying will be displayed on this website without explicit permission from the person submitting that he/she is happy for it to be made public. Confidentiality guaranteed.
